Elizabeth Fisk Looms Symposium


On Saturday, June 19, 2010 there will be an Elizabeth Fisk Looms Symposium
on Isle La Motte, Vermont.


Program

9:00 AM

Breakfast reception at the Turner Barnhouse on the south end of Isle la Motte

10:00 AM

Presentations by guest speakers:

Louise Berube, Director/Founder, The Montreal Center for Contemporary Textiles
Dr. William Rudolph, Curator of American Art, Worcester Art Museum




1:00 PM Tea/luncheon at Fisk Farm featuring Elizabeth Fisk's Studio and an exhibit by
Louise Lemieux Berube in the Art Barn
3:00 PM

Tour of the collections in the Isle La Motte Historical Society including an exhibit of
Fisk Looms patterns (cartoons)

Visit to the adjoining Goodsell Ridge Preserve

 

The symposium is open to all interested in weaving and in learning more about Elizabeth Fisk Looms, the unique cottage industry started on Isle la Motte during the Arts and Crafts Movement of the early 20th Century. There is a registration fee, $20 online or $25 at the door. The registration fee includes meals and fees.

Drive onto Isle la Motte, follow the road all the way south,
after the pavement turns to dirt, go 1/4 mile and take your first left

onto Turner Lane, the Barnhouse will be visible on your right.
